A New Act
I feel alone and small in my own city, While I pen theses words in frustration. An unexpected act is unfolding around me, Yielding very little of the pending plot. This new act started with a roaring fire; It ends with New Years at a new house. While the in-betweens are filled with pain, Frustration, worry and prayer at each scene. Midnight came with sirens and lights, And a blaze of fire on the third floor. Firemen rushed to attempt to isolate-- The building from its' dark smoky fate. Water fell like rain from the heavens, As it flowed into the floors below. As the water trickled down the walls, So did my hopes for a quick resolve. Fireman entered the first floor apartment; Their intentions are to preserve and protect. This action proved to be most successful, But the water had already claimed its' goals. Hours after the event passed like days-- All in a blur of frustration and impatience. Pushing forward in an attempt to rescue; My life that had unexpectedly changed. Now I sit here in a local hotel room so near, And attempting to understand my own fears. I pray to God for His guidance and strength; For the road ahead is fraught with many trials. Only time will write the final pages of this act. However, it will include a bottle of Champagne, Friends and a warm fire as this year fades way. Even that will giveaway to a new scene in new act.
