[ Contests ]

I finally heard back from Jodi Gustafson the President of MISFITS, and sadly I didn't win first place nor the Scott Imes Award, but I came close with second place. The full list of winners are at MISFIT Writing Contest site, but for the Open Division the breakdown is:

  • Scott Imes Award: The Closet War by Nicole Lorenz
  • 1st Place: The Brimstone Beast by Sarah Harding
  • 2nd Place: The Roustabout by Ben Lindstrom
  • 3rd Place: In the Weft by Damian Sheridan

In regards to the Convergence I'll again be working up on the 22nd floor. So stop by and visit the nice folks up there. When will I be there? *shrug* No clue. I haven't even figured out what I'm going to do, but I'll figure it out later.

Two and half months until Convergence comes back to the Twin Cities. I'm eagerly looking forward to working on the gaming floor again, and I'm looking forward to this year theme of "Boldly Go."

This year is also more interesting to me because I've remembered to prepare my short story for submission for the MISFIT's Writing Contest. The last three years I've remember two days before the conference and by then the judging is completed (since they announce the winners at Convergence opening show.

It isn't a new story. It's from an old submission to an anthology that I failed the final rounds of selection. I've spent the last two weeks polishing it and reediting in an attempt to be a better stand-a-lone piece. Quiete frankly, I'm very happy with it. It flows much better then any older version, and when read outloud I have each character sounding the way I want them.
